U111 Data Minimization
Approximate Length – 15 Minutes
Intended Audience – User Interface Developers, Front End Developers, and Privacy Professionals

Lesson Description
Is your company in the habit of large-scale data collection because of a belief that it can’t hurt or will prove beneficial in the long run? It’s time to reconsider this misguided notion. Relying on scholarly work, including Jaap-Henk Hoepman’s Privacy Design Strategies, among others, this course offers students an introduction to a variety of approaches to data minimization, while focusing on the risks and harms of data collection, and the specific tactics that can be used to combat those risks and harms.
